Another sad story...

This is a story from a local newspaper in Tiffin, OH., calling for a demonstration and advocating for humane immigration reform:

" The Sisters of St. Francis are inviting citizens to join them at 2:30 p.m. today outside Seneca County Jail to take a stand for humane immigration reform." (http://www.advertiser-tribune.com/page/content.detail/id/515304.html)

As has been the story of so many immigrants. The man depicted in the story, was simply working to support his family, earned his G.E.D and ESL, while living in the U.S.A for 17 years. His wife's legal status is being questioned as well. Meanwhile, their three children are in limbo and more likely going through the emotional toil in which these stories usually develop.

It's sad that stories like this continue happening right under our noses and nothing seems to be done to prevent the rupture of families. I admire what these religious nuns are doing to alert the community and holding their county officials responsible for the unjust way human beings are being treated.

May comprehensive immigration reform be achieved soon. May ICE be abolished soon.
