This month seems to be full of good news.
Loud Dobbs quit or was let go from CNN. Upon his departure and at his appearance in the Daily Show, he commented on the winds of change our nation is experiencing. I don't know what exactly Mr. Dobbs was referring to but watching Walter Lara being interview by Rick Sanchez along with "Papers"documentary director Anne Galisky, had me shocked. I also enjoyed the moment when Mr. Sanchez commented on the hurt and pain the word "illegal" conveys. I strongly believe this word takes away one's humanity and sense of worth.
Perhaps these are the changes Dobbs was referring to: next year the U.S. will be shocked to find out a tremendous increase in the Latino and other minority populations, as well as an increase in undocumented immigrant families settled here. But I think more importantly, one thing will be shocking for sure, and that is the increase in numbers among youth, both documented and undocumented. The immigration movement is certainly being led by some really talented youth in hopes of a better future.
Let's hope next year brings us better news and a final chapter in this immigration debate.
