The week of our DREAMs.

The coming two days will be the fight of our lives. Last week, Sen. Reid once again stirred up our DREAMs and hopes for a better future, after his announcement last week that he would submit the DREAM Act, attached to a defense bill and present it to the U.S. Senate. The past few days we have seen an enormous tidal wave of activism sprung across the nation. Just like the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, this movement has been inspired by youth tired and frustrated with the status quo. DREAMers across the U.S. have grown tired of the systemic conditions that punish us and keep the current system in place. "Undocumented and unafraid", it's our motto. Finally, a glimpse of hope. Peace protest, sit-ins, marches, boycotts, media campaigns, mock graduations, and vigils, have not been uncommon, whatever is needed to raise the attention of the American public. A new reality has emerged and we cannot longer remain passive. Most DREAMers, myself included, have already demonstrated a passion to succeed and excel. America is our home and its values are our own. The DREAM Act will be the culmination of a life full of accomplishments.

I take my hat off to the DREAMers who are featured in this video. Their strength and perseverance has paved the way for so many of us. I also want to acknowledge the many people who everyday make it possible to be a fervent advocate for the issue of immigration. Their hard work and attitude is what makes this great nation stand strong.

"But DREAMs, you know they need to be followed through..." --DJ Shadow, "This Time".
